Wedding Trials, Part 1

I am embarking into the wedding realm this summer, and I am very much looking forward to it!  Wedding #1 — July, cupcakes.  Wedding #2 — August, stacked tiers

EEEEEEEEE!  (That is my excited/nervous/scared scream).

So, I’m working on flavors and practicing icing.  The hubs is enjoying the cupcakes.  I made some “fluffy boiled icing” aka meringue and I totally thought I failed.  So, I let Mr. Stand Mixer do his job and when I came back into the kitchen and looked in the bowl, I was pleasantly surprised!  I did it!!  It worked!

Did you know they have butter flavored Crisco?  The hubs bought that the last time I asked for shortening.  Yes, butter flavored Crisco makes your buttercream icing taste very buttery.  The hubs doesn’t like the taste of butter, I know weird, but at least he has a sweet tooth.  Can you imagine if I had to eat all of these cupcakes myself?  Here we have classic buttercream, chocolate buttercream, the fluffy boiled icing and a chocolate ganache icing.
